The Bucks County Democratic Women’s Leadership Initiative (BCDWLI) was formed to provide support and build a strong network of Democrats committed to bringing awareness to the challenges that keep women from obtaining critical leadership roles within our communities. Our mission is to create opportunities for women to become involved at every level of the political process, advocate for the issues that concern women and working families and gain the confidence to step into leadership roles within their community. The BCDWLI will hold events throughout the year to bring individuals together to increase awareness, raise funds, and strengthen Democratic voices.
WHAT WE DO
We are an organization dedicated to getting more women elected to public office and electing Democrats at all levels of government. The BCDWLI holds events throughout the year to increase awareness, raise funds and strengthen Democratic voices.
At BCDWLI we strive to create a place where individuals who are looking to run for office, support Democrats running for office, and those who just want to be more informed or be part of the conversation are connected. Together we are building a powerful network of individuals committed to representing the values that protect the interests of women and working families in Bucks County.
OUR CORE VALUES
Diversity & Inclusion
It is our intent that every member of the BCDWLI community shares in the responsibility to create a positive culture and represents the values of equity, inclusion, and dignity. To that end, it is critical to our mission that we are able to consider how our own culture, perspectives, and biases impact our communities, that we actively seek out and learn from the voices of others, and work to create opportunities for ALL women to strengthen their voices and gain the confidence to step into leadership roles.
We not only believe that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to achieve the highest level of education possible, we believe it is necessary to secure our country’s future. We work to raise awareness for programs and policies within our community that make education affordable and accessible to everyone. We consider trade unions our partners in this effort and work to ensure our community recognizes the benefits of union apprenticeships along with the opportunities available to them.
Access to Healthcare
We believe that access to healthcare is a basic human right. We work to provide a network where elected officials, candidates, labor leaders, and constituents can come together and gain clarity on the challenges we face as a community and continue to find solutions to our nation’s healthcare crisis. We also recognize our local trade unions who since day one have made it a priority to protect working families and defend every individual’s right to healthcare.
One of the greatest challenges women face in the fight for gender equality today is the right to equal pay for equal work. At the BCDWLI we work to elect candidates who actively push for more transparency and demand equality in the workplace regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, or gender. In this effort, we look to the support of our trade union partners who continue to set the moral standard and work to ensure that every employee has the power to gain equal compensation at every level.
We recognize that consumers represent the largest group of individuals in our economy and that they contribute significantly to our nation’s economic growth. We work to elect candidates who make it a priority to protect the rights of consumers. We also work to build a network where candidates, elected officials, labor leaders, and constituents are able to have open conversations about the challenges our economy faces and work together to identify solutions.
Support for Veterans
We recognize our servicemen and women and their families for the sacrifices they make each day to protect our freedoms. We work to provide opportunities for military veterans to become involved in the political process. We also work to elect individuals who advocate for policies that protect veteran’s rights and work to find solutions to the unique challenges military veterans and their families face. We recognize and support our local trade union partners in creating opportunities for veterans to transition back into the community they serve.
We work to make a substantial impact on the communities we represent. By working together to provide resources, create educational opportunities, we build a powerful network that strengthens our community as a whole.
Our mission is to create opportunities for women to become involved at every level of the political process, advocate for the issues that concern women and working families and gain the confidence to step into leadership roles within their community.
